Our story

What we noticed.
What we built differently.

We opened our first warehouse in 2005, picking and packing for a handful of apparel and accessory brands. The orders were not glamorous and the volume was not large. The brands kept coming back, because we picked their stuff correctly, shipped it on time, and answered the phone. None of which was supposed to be a competitive advantage.

Twenty-one years later we run a 20+ location network across the US and Canada, and the same three things still bother us about the rest of the industry. Pricing is opaque, with surcharges that appear in month three. SLAs are flattened, as if Toronto and Atlanta should ship the same way. And accountability is fuzzy. The brand calls a region, gets a ticket number, and waits. We built the opposite: line-item pricing you can read before you sign, a separate operations playbook for every metro we serve, and a named account lead on the hook for every account. We have grown the network. We have not added a sales floor between you and the people running your account. We intend to stay that way.

Operating principles

Four things we believe.

These are not aspirational. They are how we make every operational decision, every quote, and every hire.

  1. Principle 01

There is no single national 3PL market. There are 26.

Buyers searching "3PL Toronto" want different things than buyers searching "3PL Atlanta". Inventory math, carrier mix, cutoff times, customs posture, even labor cost structure shifts city by city. We run a separate operations playbook for each metro we serve, not a single national template flattened over the map.

  2. Principle 02

Every account gets a named account lead. Not a ticket queue.

When a SKU goes missing in Phoenix, your account has a person on the hook. Not a ticket. Not a region. A specific human who knows your inventory math, your carrier mix, your cutoff times, and who answers the phone when an order goes sideways.

  3. Principle 03

Cross-border math is the moat post-Section-321.

Section 321 used to let D2C brands ship from Canadian warehouses into the US duty-free under $800. That door is closing. The brands who keep cross-border economics working are the ones who model duty, brokerage, and node-splitting at the SKU level, not the SKU-family level. We do that math.

  4. Principle 04

    Pricing transparency or buyers walk.

Hidden fees, surcharges that appear in month three, "negotiable" rate cards. Every flag the 3PL industry waves at its customers, we refuse to wave. Our quotes list every line item that can ever show up on an invoice, with the trigger condition next to the price. If you cannot price it before you sign, you should not sign.

Our people

A team,
not a vendor floor.

Every brand we ship for can name the person who runs their account, and reach them on the same Slack channel that our floor uses.

Our core values are our most important asset. Vertex provides a sense of family and a progressive environment in which our team can maximize their professional and personal growth. Mutual respect, honesty, and integrity are practiced from the top to the bottom of the organization.
